We have been a customer of Gene Lilly's retail store for 20 plus years and have always been happy with their knowledgeable staff and one on one advise. Their seems to have been some changes in staff at this store and we recently took an automatic pool cleaner there to be repaired because it was not working properly. We dropped the unit off in September of 2018 and inquired about the progress of it's repair a few times through the winter season. We were finally called in April of 2019 and were told that the unit was working properly and was ready for pickup and the cost was $266.00. We opened our pool a week later and when we put the pool cleaner into the pool it was doing the same thing (not working) that it did when we decided to have it repaired. We made a phone call to Gene Lilly about this and we were told that the service guy would not be returning to work for 4 days and we should call back then. We decided to check the impeller in the unit per the suggestion of the troubleshooting guide from the manual. when we removed the cover to expose the impeller we found that there were no blades on the impeller. They had been broken off. We ordered the part through an internet site at a cost of $21.99 and when the part was delivered we installed the impeller and then put the unit into the pool again and it worked flawlessly and has been since then. We called the service tech about this and he said that he was very sorry to hear about this but there was nothing that he could do about it. I recently went into their store to purchase a few bags of shock and while I was there I asked to speak with a manager or someone in charge. I am not convinced that the person I spoke with was a manager but I proceeded to explain this same story to him and his response was basically the same as the service techs. There was nothing that they could do about it. He claimed that they checked the unit in a "sink" before it left. I really don't know how you check a pool cleaner in a "sink" but that is what I was told. I am totally convinced at this point that all that was wrong with our pool cleaner was a $21.99 impeller and that I should have just went that route in the beginning instead of trusting Gene Lilly with repairing our cleaner. I feel like we have been ripped off by Gene Lilly and the 3 bags of shock treatment that I purchased today will be my last dealings with this company. This is very unfortunate for me because I am very close to their store but there are other retail stores in the area and I guess I will be forced to shop there in the future.read more

I want to sing the high praises of this company! We bought an incredible pool from them and we LOVE it. The staff is friendly, professional, and they all have delightful personalities. The pool was installed last Friday (the 13th) and it’s a sight to behold. Then, the next day (by no fault or affiliation with Gene Lilly) without my knowledge a pool water company filled our brand-new pool with water that looked worse than water you’d find in the Inner Harbor, it was BLACK (no lie). We were mortified! Much like Superman, the staff at Gene Lilly immediately came out to the house and treated the pool. This was followed up with two additional visits and now, as a result (and in four days) the pool is crystal clear and above all SAFE! I don’t know how they performed this miracle but we are not only ecstatic, we are so grateful for their generosity, patience (because I was a certifiable basket case about this whole ordeal), and above all their dedication to their customers. They have a stellar reputation. Customer service and professionalism of this echelon is a rare find! Thank you, Gene Lilly! If you are looking for a pool company look no further…… THIS IS IT. They are THE BEST!read more

I bought our pool here several years ago. The help is great and very knowledgeable. The only issue I have with this place is pricing. I wonder how can a store charge almost 300% more than the cost of a pump that I can get online. I understand brick and mortar but come on 300% more.read more
